Our TJ Bass
TJ Bass Flute
The bass flute sits at the lowest end of the flute family, bringing a depth of sound and physical presence that requires a different approach from the player. The handcrafted TJ bass flute is designed with this in mind, offering a stable, well-supported response that allows the instrument to speak clearly without becoming heavy or resistant.
With a 925 silver lip plate and riser, the instrument maintains a centred core to the sound, helping the low register respond cleanly while keeping the upper range controlled and usable. The response is naturally more measured, rewarding steady air and a considered approach to phrasing, but without requiring excessive effort to produce a full, resonant tone. Soldered tone holes, French-style pointed key arms, and a carefully balanced silver-plated mechanism contribute to a consistent feel across the instrument. Whether used in flute choir, chamber settings, or as part of a doubling setup, the TJ bass flute provides a dependable platform for developing depth of tone, control, and musical confidence.
